Kyodo News Beijing reported that the Netherlands, the largest passenger train operating company Holland Railway (NS) from the beginning of the year only use wind power to run all the electric train. It is reported that about 600,000 people in the Netherlands daily ride "wind tram", NS and other stressed that this is the world's first bold attempt. This makes the "windmill of the country" more veritable.
In 2015, NS, in partnership with Eneco, a power company in the country, started a project to run trains on wind power alone and by 2016 75% of the trains run on wind power. The annual electricity consumption of NS is almost equivalent to the sum of all households in Amsterdam, the capital city of about 800,000 people.Stainless steel CNC Milling Machining Manufacturer
According to European media reports, NS runs about 5,500 trains a day. According to the person in charge of public relations, the company initially planned to start using 100% of wind power by 2018, but reached the goal of "one year ahead of schedule" due to the increase of wind power facilities including offshore.
According to the World Wind Energy Association (headquartered in Brussels), the Netherlands has 3.43 million kilowatts of wind power by the end of 2015, surpassing Japan's 3.04 million kilowatts. Japan's area is about nine times that of the Netherlands and its population is 7.5 times that of the Netherlands.
